A HOST of choirs will raise their voices at a tuneful charity event to generate funds for hospices across Worcestershire this Christmas.

Visitors are urged to come along and enjoy the festive sounds at the free choir-a-thon hosted by Webbs Garden Centre on Thursday, December 3.

Ed Webb, chairman of Wychbold-based Webbs, said: "We are delighted that so many choirs wished to share their wonderful voices with our customers.

"We support our chosen hospice charities throughout the year but look forward to giving them this extra donation at Christmas when they work so hard to make it a special time for patients and their families."

Choirs from all over the area will take part, including youngsters from the Artrix Choir in Bromsgrove, the Downs School in Colwall, The Elms School in Malvern and St Richard’s Singers, who are volunteers and staff from the Worcester hospice.

The event, which runs between 3pm and 7.15pm, will be rounded off with a performance by the Little Witley Community choir.

The choir-a-thon takes place during Webbs' Festive Food Fayre.

The garden centre has pledged £1,000 to be split between its five chosen hospice charities - St Richard’s, Primrose, Acorns, Kemp and Mary Stevens - in exchange for choirs to sing for customers.

It is hoped generous customers will also make donations to the hospices to boost the £1,000 donation from Webbs.
