CELEBRATIONS are in order for an Evesham author who scooped a publishing contract for her new novel.

Dorothy Mitchell, 77, who lives in Leicester Grove, was delighted to hear digital publishing company Andrews UK was interested in her latest book, Sea Winds.

The novel, a love story, follows the emotional journey of a woman who has been married twice, but both her husbands have died.

Mrs Mitchell, who has been writing poetry and fiction for 15 years, said: "When I heard from them [the publishers] it took me three days to come down from the ceiling! I am so absolutely pleased."

The author has previously written several books, despite battling with Multiple Sclerosis which she has suffered with since she was in her 40s.

She says: "With a love story, I do not like anything smutty but we all know what it feels like to fall in love. We know the feeling, the intensity and I have managed to capture that.

"It is a love story and it is about all the human emotions that we all have and we all go through."

Mrs Mitchell, who writes her stories from her home in Evesham, and says she found inspiration for her new story simply from her imagination.

Originally from Yorkshire, the mother-of-two has lived in Evesham since she was 17 years old.

She lives with her second husband Ken.
