AN HISTORIC cinema in Evesham is set to host special film screenings to celebrate the lives of two great performers.

The Regal Cinema, in Port Street, will show the cult classic Labyrinth, starring David Bowie, along with two Alan Rickman films: Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Love Actually.

Each screening pays tribute to the performers' lasting mark on the film industry, with Bowie fans encouraged to dress up for the Labyrinth showings.

Both of the stars died earlier this month aged 69 after battling with cancer. They died within four days of each other.

Labyrinth will be shown on Thursday, January 21, Saturday, February 6 and Friday, February 12.

Meanwhile, Robin Hood - featuring the actor's BAFTA-winning role as the Sheriff of Nottingham - is showing on Tuesday, February 2, followed by Love Actually on Sunday, February 21.

Laurence Wiper, from The Regal, said: "David Bowie undoubtedly made amazing contributions to the world of music over the course of his long and storied career, but he also gave the world of film plenty to talk about.

"We are delighted to show Bowie's mesmerising performance as the Goblin King in his honour.

"Along with the rest of the country, we felt the huge loss to British acting with the news of the passing of Alan Rickman.

"We are pleased to be paying tribute to his incredible talent with these special showings showcasing some of his best-loved roles."
