AN EVESHAM fundraiser will raise awareness of the disease which killed her husband at the Regal Cinema next week.

Sandra Francis, whose husband Pete died of pancreatic cancer in December 2012, will inform guests about the illness at a commemorative showing of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring the late actor Alan Rickman.

Mr Rickman, who died earlier this month, also suffered with pancreatic cancer.

Mrs Francis, who is the volunteer regional representative for the Pancreatic Cancer Action charity, said: "It is really, really important that the general public know the symptoms because it is a very hard cancer to diagnose.

"We are trying to educate GPs and the person in the street so that more people get diagnosed for surgery."

The film will be shown at the cinema in Port Street on Tuesday, February 2, at 7.30pm. A raffle to raise fund for the Pancreatic Cancer Action will also be held.

Previously, Mrs Francis arranged a special screening of Dirty Dancing at the Regal to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Charity.
