THEATRE goers can enjoy classic war time songs with a special show at Evesham Arts Centre next month.

The D-Day Darlings, who have sung at RAF Defford and Croome, will perform in The Songs that Won the War, which will be at the centre on Saturday, May 28.

Katie Ashby, producer and director of the show, said: "We are looking forward to returning to Evesham in May as part of our 2016 tour.

"It is always an honour to commemorate such a key part of our modern history whilst singing memorable songs from the era.

"However, performing ‘The Songs That Won The War’ to a theatre audience also gives us the opportunity to tell an uplifting story which reflects the community spirit that kept our nation strong through difficult times.

"It is the enduring patriotism and solidarity of wartime Britain which inspired this show, as well as the troops that gave up so much for our country.

"This is why we are proud to help raise funds and awareness for the Royal British Legion, who have kindly said we are ‘an extremely talented group of singers that bring the wartime spirit to life."

Set in the heart of wartime Britain, the show tells the tale of a vocal-harmony trio hoping for a big break.

The light-hearted production features a selection of unforgettable 1940s songs, from artists such as Gracie Fields, The Andrews Sisters and Dame Vera Lynn, who is also a supporter of the show.
