A VOLUNTEER celebration event to promote the work of a Wychavon family support service is being held in Pershore.

The recently graded 'outstanding' Wychavon Early Help Team is holding the event to thank volunteers for their commitment and support and who every day attend groups and activities in Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich and the surrounding areas.

The celebration is taking place on Wednesday June 8 between 12pm and 2pm at Number 8 Arts Centre.

Early Help in Wychavon, which is run by the charity 4Children, delivers services to support children, young people and their families aged 0 to 19 years. Volunteers support with stay and plays, planning, setting up and clearing away the group, organising some of the activities and participating within the group.

Some volunteers have even gone above and beyond, for example, dressing up as 4Children mascot Gilbert Bear to delight the children.

Sue Deedigan, regional manager said: “In this time of budget cuts and austerity, volunteers are an integral part of our team’s ability to support the children and families in our communities so that they are able to achieve their full potential. 4Children is immensely grateful to them and appreciate that they give their most precious gift - time.”

At the celebration 15 volunteers will be recognised for their dedication and numerous hours of service and presented with certificates to mark their achievements. Volunteers will also receive a gift.
