Incoming President, Mike Jelley, outlined his aims for the 2016-17 Rotary Club year at the annual Club Assembly on Thursday, 16th June. His vision is for the Club to continue to concentrate on local issues and institutions in Chipping Campden and district.

Campden Home Nursing: In particular, we hope to run a fundraising event for Chipping Campden Home Nursing service, which provides invaluable support for the final care of terminal patients and their families within a radius of twelve miles round C Campden. This service is free and depends on legacies and donations for its funding.

Tree of Life: The Club aims to continue the successful Tree of Light at the Christmas Fare, which provides a way of commemorating departed loved ones and raising money for a number of local charities.

Youth Speaks: We plan to continue the primary school public speaking competition, which has been going for twenty five years and which provides valuable educational experience for young pupils. This has been so successful that a sixth local primary school applied to join the competition in 2016. It is a most inspiring event, attended by both pupils and their parents.

Mr Jelley hoped that such valuable educational events might encourage some of the parents to join the Club as a means of enhancing the contribution of our local Rotary Club to the local community in Chipping Campden and the surrounding villages from which many of the pupils come.

New members and enquirers are always welcome at our weekly dinner at the Cotswold House Hotel on Thursday evenings at 7 for 7.30. Membership is open to women and men.
