EVESHAM’S Olly Turner enjoyed success at HRP Lochgelly Raceway in the JASCAR Scottish Championship.

The junior American stock cars contested the enviable cup title in Fife at rounds six and seven as 13-year-old Turner secured his first championship win.

Slippy conditions for the first three heats ended in a rainy setting and wet tyres.

But Turner, in the Goodsign.co.uk #22 car, settled in for a points haul, keeping the car under control.

He settled for a third and then two seconds on an increasingly difficult track.

Race restarts did not work in his favour and he was the only one in heat two not to be involved in incidents.

Turner pulled out an almighty lead but came away with a second after a restart according to the lap counter.

The championship day, where all of the five heat points were added to determine the final race’s grid positions, proved to be a real battle.

In heat one with new confidence in the wet conditions, Turner again built on each lap for a second place.

Then, after a cracking start from the back to the front, he established a third in the second heat and accumulated enough points to be on the front row for the final.

After a great start on the outside, he led for a few laps but a rival regained a small lead before an incident at the back of the pack involving three cars brought the red flag out.

The race restarted with four laps left with Turner in prime position behind the leader.

He worked hard and fast on the outside to remain in contention and eventually came through.

Turner accelerated away in the last corner with a two-car length lead and went over the line to take the Scottish Championship.

The team came away elated with the performance in extremely testing and competitive conditions.

Turner struggled with vision in the rain and was drenched by the end.

He said: “It makes the trip and all the hard work worth it with results like this.

“I was fairly quiet and patient looking after the car and to pull out my best race in the final is an amazing feeling.”
