POLICE are reminding people to stay safe while playing Pokemon GO in Worcestershire.

The app sees players walking around with their mobile phones trying to find Pokemon, PokeStops and PokeGyms in real life locations.

Already, however, there have been reports nationally of children and adults engrossed in the game getting themselves into precarious situations.

They include a group of teenagers rescued from a mine complex in Wiltshire and a Plymouth boy who was lost in woods.

With the summer holidays just around the corner, West Mercia Police is reminding all Pokémon gamers to stay and play safe.

"Please remember that your safety comes before catching that Drowzee or Squirtle.

"Let someone know where you're going, be aware of your surroundings and follow all normal road safety advice.

"For grown ups playing - we hope it goes without saying but under no circumstances is it ok to catch Pokémon whilst you're driving."
