A GROUP of Pershore High School students have taken part in a local project to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.

The year 8 students, with the guidance of Worcestershire historian James Robertson, undertook detailed research on local casualties of war before producing their own creative response to their findings.

Students also enjoyed a spot on local radio in which they reflected on what they had learned.

Headteacher Clive Corbett said: "All pupils felt proud and privileged to have been involved in the project, which proved to be both moving and revealing.

"Their efforts will be celebrated as part of an exhibition at Pershore Library.
