PARENTS are invited to join their children at new creative movement classes in Droitwich and Pershore.
The classes, called Grown-ups and Wigglers, will launch in September at the Sacred Heart Church in Droitwich and Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore.
Jenny Davis, arts development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: "As a parent myself I found it difficult to exercise and keep fit when my child was under five. I couldn’t afford the gym and the local leisure centres didn’t offer crèche facilities, so I thought why not offer something where children aged two to four can come along with a parent or a carer and exercise in a fun way together.
"The classes usually have a different theme each week, such as under the sea or a trip to the park. The classes use a wide variety of props such as ribbons and a parachute to aid the movement and catchy music to move to."
The classes also aim to help children develop essential co-ordination and balance skills, as well as strengthening the bond between the grown-up and the toddler.
Sessions begin in Droitwich on Friday, September 16, from 10am to 11am, and in Pershore on Friday, September 23 from 11am to noon.
These classes will be the first of many in the Wychavon area, with Evesham coming on board after the October half-term.
