YOUNGSTERS at an Evesham nursery have been celebrating a popular children's book.

Children and staff at Busy Bees Evesham, in Charity Crescent, dressed up as various animals on Monday, (September 19), to celebrate Handa's Surprise.

The popular children's favourite, by Eileen Browne, tells the story of little girl called Handa who puts seven delicious fruits in a basket to take to her friend.

As part of the event at Busy Bees, staff organised for children to enjoy fruit printing and tasting, mask making, and animal games.

There was also a surprise visit when Handa visited nursery to read her book to the children, share her fruit and speak to the animals.

Kate Rowling, the nursery's manager, said: "The children learned about the African culture and used their senses to explore a variety of exotic fruit.

"A great day was had by all."
