HUNDREDS of pounds was raised to help support refugees at a fun run around Evesham’s Crown Meadow.
Runners, both young and old, took part in the event held on Saturday, September 17, to raise money for Restore - a charity which supports refugees and asylum seekers.
The Reverend Dr Israel Selvanayagam, Evesham's new Methodist minister, said he was delighted to find the church’s young people engaged in such positive activity, and looks forward to similar events in the future.
Restore is a Birmingham Churches project which helps refugees adjust to life in the UK by offering befriending and social activities.
Last month, the Stratford and Evesham Methodist Circuit hosted a group of nearly 40 refugees and supporters from Birmingham in Stratford.
During the visit, they had lunch at the church, were given a free visit to the Butterfly Farm and had a boat trip on the river.
