AN Evesham pet store is holding a number of fundraising activities to raise cash for a national animal welfare charity.

Until Sunday, October 2, Pets at Home in Evesham is holding a number of fundraisers including the sale of charity pin badges, a round up to £1 initiative - where shopping is round up with the difference donation, and the sale of scratch cards where prizes include iPhone 6, iPad Mini, pet-friendly holiday vouchers and cases of wine.

All the money raised is being donated to the RSPCA - the animal welfare charity which collected and rescued more than 115,00 animals in 2015 alone.

Adam Blanchard, store manager at Pets at Home, based at Four Pools Retail Park, Evesham, said: “We held a similar fundraising weekend last year and managed to raise more than £63,000 across our stores in England and Wales.

"However, we’re hoping to beat that target this year to help support the great work done by the RSPCA."

RSPCA assistant director of enterprises, Melanie Verity, added: "We are very grateful to Pets at Home and their generous customers for helping to fundraise to support the RSPCA's vital work on the frontline of preventing animal cruelty.

"The RSPCA is a charity funded by public donations and our cruelty line receives a call every 28 seconds - the money raised through Pets at Home's RSPCA week will go directly to helping save the lives of those animals most in need."
