PATIENTS past and present can banish the cloud of cancer during a therapeutic singing session at the breast unit.

The free hour long session at the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven will take place on the evening of Tuesday, October 25.

With help from Got2Sing Worcester choir, the session will include some warm up techniques and participants will learn some basic vocal harmonies.

Organised to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Haven is inviting breast patients, past and present, and their friends and family to come and 'sing themselves happy'.

Lexi Craigie, Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven’s fundraising manager, said: “We’ve heard a number of stories from patients explaining how singing and becoming part of a choir has really helped them on their road to recovery.

"This free session will give people an opportunity to join in and discover how it might help them as well”.

One patient, Kate Butler, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 and is a member of Got2Sing choir said: “Being in a choir has enabled me to forget my ‘cancer cloud’ once a week as I’m learning a new skill, meeting new friends, and learning how to sing. I’d encourage anyone to come and give it a go.”

The session is open to breast patients past and present, male and female, and their families.

It will be hosted at the unit in the grounds of Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester. It is free of charge and will run from 7pm to 8pm.
