SCOUTS have celebrated 90 years of scouting in their village.

1st Evesham 1st Hampton Scout Group marked the milestone with a birthday cake which they shared with beavers, cubs, adult volunteers and parents.

They also heard about how scouting in Hampton began in 1919 but only ran for two years before being cancelled with the Scout Association in 1921.

The scout group was restarted in 1928 and has thrived ever since.

A display of historic Scout items and photos was accompanied by videos and photos from more recent scout adventures.

Mitchell Banks was awarded the Silver Chief Scout Award, which is the highest Award for cub scouts.

Former Hampton Scout Andrew Uncles, who has returned to Hampton Scout Group as adult volunteer after studying for a degree, received the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award badge.

The Gold certificate will be presented in a special ceremony at St James’ Palace at a later date.
