AN apple tree was planted at a primary school to help create its developing orchard.
The Evesham branch of Morrisons donated a Cox's Orange Pippin apple tree to Bengeworth CE Academy, Burford Road, Evesham, and helped plant it along with members of the school's eco council and pupil parliament.
The youngsters took part in helping Sian Lewis from Morrisons to dig the hole and plant the tree next to other fruit trees in the newly planted orchard on the school field.
The addition of this tree is part of the ongoing development of the grounds including Forest School and Conservation areas at both of the school's sites.
In addition, Morrisons also donated a crate of apples so that the children would have a chance to taste the fruit which the tree will eventually produce.
Sian Lewis, Community Champion at Morrisons, said: "We hope that the children will enjoy watering, pruning and looking after the tree whilst it grows and bears much fruit for Bengeworth children to enjoy over many years to come."
