MORE than £900 was raised for charity during a month-long campaign which saw buildings lit up in purple light.

Evesham fundraisers hosted a range of events to raise a tremendous £920.51 for Pancreatic Cancer Action during November.

Landmark buildings in the town - including the Almonry and Abbey Bell Tower - were bathed in purple light during the campaign, to raise awareness of the disease.

Sandra Francis, who spearheaded the campaign in Evesham, said: "Both looked wonderful and lots of people have taken photos and the awareness of pancreatic cancer symptoms has been spread far and wide which is what it is all about."

Among the special events was an afternoon tea held at Raphael’s Restaurant at the Hampton Ferry which raised £552.

The rest was raised by Allchurch Bailey Ltd, Abbey Appliances and a bucket collection held when the bell tower was illuminated at the start of the campaign.

Mrs Francis' husband Pete died of the disease in 2012 and she has since been tirelessly raising awareness of the disease and its symptoms.

She added: I would like to thank the people of Evesham for their support of all the events that took place during World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month this November."
