BUSINESSES have until February 17 to bid for £1.3m of European Regional Development Fund to help protect the environment and promote resource efficiency.

This money will help to protect and restore biodiversity, soil and promote ecosystem services. It will also promote innovative technologies to improve environmental protection and resource efficiency in the waste sector, water sector and reduce air pollution.

Applicants will be assessed in two stages of the application process, the outline and full application stages, with the deadline for the initial stage application being February 17.

The European Regional Development Fund is part of the England 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme, which was launched in March 2015.

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It is good news that this new ERDF funding is now available for organisations that are able to help protect the environment and promote resource efficiency in ways which benefit business growth.I would encourage anyone interested and with some innovative proposals which advance Worcestershire’s environmental sustainability to apply for this funding before the February deadline.”
