FOUR air cadets form Pershore have recently been awarded their wings for learning to fly.

The four, all members of the 233 (Pershore) Squadron of the Air Training Corps, were given the coveted insignia thy their commanding officer, flight lieutenant Rebecca Pritchett at their squadron headquarters based at Pershore High School.

The four cadets, Rueben Evans, Ethan Heesom, Issac Grimwade-Jones, and Adam Turton, recently completed the aviation training course at RAF Cosford.

The course consists of a ground school training, time spent in a simulator and then getting airborne in a real aircraft where they took the controls.

The cadets flew in a Grob 115E Tutor, the Royal Air Force’s elementary trainer which all new pilots use. All four cadets are looking forward to continuing their aviation training with the Squadron.

Flight lieutenant Pritchett said “I’m incredibly proud of my four cadets who are not only the first on the squadron to gain these wings but are the first in the West Mercian Wing. They are a credit to the Squadron.”

Flying is one of the many activities air cadets take part in, in supervised and safe conditions. Other activities include shooting, adventure training, fieldcraft and sport.

Anyone aged from 12 to 18 who wishes to join should contact 233@aircadets.org or 233aircadets.org for details.
