SIXTY nine excited children from St Barnabas CE First and Middle School in Drake's Broughton, near Worcester, travelled to Birmingham's Genting Arena to take part in Young Voices on Tuesday.

The boys and girls, aged between 7 and 12, were all members of the school's It's a Sing Thing singing club led by teacher Mrs Greenway.

They joined a choir of 6,654 children to be the stars of a two-hour show, singing pop, jazz and folk medleys.

Other treats for children and the parent audience were the opportunities to play air guitars as they rocked to one-time X-Factor finalist Tabby Callaghan, sing backing vocals for soul singer Natalie Williams, and practise using their voices as instruments with the Beatbox Collective.

Each child took a tin of food to give to Young Voices to distribute to people in need across the Midlands region.

Christina Brooks, from the school, said: "The children had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

"Parents commented that they really enjoyed the show and would definitely buy tickets to be in the audience again."
