THOUGHTFUL youngsters got stuck in with a community litter pick to help keep their area looking spick-and-span.

Members of the Eco Council at St Peter's Droitwich C of E Academy spent the afternoon of Friday, February 10, clearing litter from a pathway between Tagwell Road and St Peter's Church.

The group of 18 children –including the Happy Little Eco People, who are aged between four and five – joined Chris Colley, a community liaison officer from Fortis Living, for the pick.

Equipped with grabbers, gloves and bags, the children collected three bags of rubbish.

Catherine Baldwin, the school’s Eco Council co-ordinator, said: "The children were so happy and hard working. They especially loved using the grabbers!

"It is so encouraging to see the pathway now clear of litter as it is a particularly busy walkway to our school. We hope everyone will now be encouraged to keep it clean."

As part of the litter pick, youngsters learned the importance of keeeping the community and environment clean.
