TWO sexual assaults took place in Evesham on the same night.

Both attacks both happened in the town's Davies Road on Sunday and both involved a man on a bike.

West Mercia Police say they are remaining 'open minded' about whether the two sexual assaults are linked and the suspect is the same in both incidents.

The first attack happened between 8.10pm and 8.20pm when an unknown man on a bicycle approached a woman from behind as she was walking.

The man made sexual comments and touched the victim inappropriately over her clothing.

He followed the victim, a woman in her 20s, onto Sycamore Avenue and Porter Road, where he got off his bike and continued to make inappropriate comments.

He then grabbed her by the arms and attempted to kiss the woman before she managed to free herself, at which point the man ran off back towards his bicycle.

The man is described as white, aged between 18 and 20, around 1.65m or 5ft 4ins tall, slim build and clean shaven. He was wearing dark coloured gloves and a hat and was riding a push bike.

He was also described as speaking with a local accent.

The second incident happened between 9.10pm and 9.15pm in the Davies Road area near Charity Crescent when a man riding a bicycle touched a woman inappropriately over her clothing and made inappropriate sexual comments to her.

The man pulled the victim, a woman in her 20s, towards him and again touched her inappropriately before the woman's lift arrived.

The man rode his bike to Morrison's car park and appeared to speak to people inside a black Volkswagen Golf, before leaving in the direction of B&Q.

He is described as white, between 1.7m to 1.8m (5ft 6ins to 5ft 9ins) tall with dark coloured brown eyes.

He had dark hair described as short and untidy and a thin face with prominent cheek bones.

The man was wearing trousers with pockets on and lots of buttons, a black fabric belt with white stripes on and a small amount of green.

The man was also wearing a black hooded top and black trainers with white soles and was riding a small BMX style bicycle.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Wiggins of West Mercia Police said: "West Mercia Police treat all reports of sexual offences seriously.

"I would like to reassure the local community that incidents like this are rare in Evesham and officers have been conducting reassurance patrols in the area."

He urge anyone with information or anybody who may have witnessed either incident to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 653s and 646s of 12 February.
