YOUNGSTERS of all ages should get down to Malvern’s independent bookshop on Saturday, March 4, where author Phil Barnes will be talking about his latest book My Teacher’s a Spy!, the second book in the popular My Teacher series.

Mr Barnes's first book, My Teacher’s a Robot! was published last year and is selling worldwide. He wrote the book while working at a plumber’s merchant’s and has plans for a whole series of the books.

He will be at the Malvern Book Cooperative in St Anne's Road from 11.30am to 2pm to sign copies of the new book and talk to readers.

A percentage of all royalties from the second book will be given to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“My brother-in-law Jeff had MND at the age of 45, and he died two years later,” said Mr Barnes, who lives in Gloucester. "It’s an awful condition and I want to help raise awareness of it.”

Tom Padfield of the bookshop said: “We support local authors at the Malvern Book Cooperative, and we especially like having events for children’s writers.

A good friend of mine died of motor neurone disease in 2015, and we think the MNDA is an excellent cause. Phil’s books are really good fun too – you should read them.”
