PUPILS at a pre-school near Pershore are celebrating after the community pulled together to fix damage caused by vandals.

In January, Pinvin Community Pre-School's outdoor forest learning area and allotment was targeted by vandals – rendering a children's playhouse unsafe to use.

After seeing how upset pupils were at the damage, businesses and residents from across the county joined forces to help revamp the area and buy a new playhouse.

Marshalls Transport Evesham, Lambrou Motors, and Evesham Football Club were among the donors.

Peter Allely, managing director of Marshalls, said: "I thought it was disgraceful that a children’s play house was vandalised by youths. I was so annoyed I thought I’d donate £500 to see if I could put it right."

Children at the pre-school have already been enjoying the new play house and have even started planting fruit and vegetables in preparation for the summer.

Theresa Davis, headteacher, said the children were “very excited” to see the return of their forest area.

She said: "It is amazing to think so many people cared enough to contribute to help us get back on our feet.

"We wouldn’t have been able to do it without them."

The newly repaired facilities are used by children as young as two to learn about the environment and wildlife.
