A day of performance poetry was enjoyed by Bengeworth pupils as part of the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival.

Pupils from Bengeworth CE Academy took part, many for the first time, to win medals and a cup in the verse speaking and acting classes.
Among the medal winners were Joshua Chigbe who won a silver cup and gold medal, Phoebe Short, Lily Jeynes and Amy Hunn won silver medals and there was a bronze medal for Sebastian Pearce.
Distinctions and merits were awarded in every class.

Debra Bertulis, speech and drama teacher, said: "Winning is wonderful, but for us at Bengeworth it is the self confidence pupils gain in being given opportunities such as these, and as a result, everyone cannot wait for next year!"

Headteacher David Coaché said, "Our pupils represented themselves exceptionally well.

"Competing with older students in all categories was no mean feat, but Bengeworth pupils demonstrated that a great attitude and enjoyment of what you're doing goes hand-in-hand with success.

"We are very proud of our pupils and delighted with their achievements at this year's festival."
