UPDATE: The group has left the car park overnight.

A Worcester City Council spokesman has said they left after being served with a notice.

The spokesman added they have left the site in a tidy condition.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A GROUP of travellers have parked their caravans on Croft Road car park in Worcester - the second time in three months a group has been at the site.

The travellers arrived at the car park, owned by Worcester City Council, at 6.50pm yesterday evening.

A Worcester News reporter has spoken to the group and although no one wanted to talk, one of the group - who wished to remain anonymous - said "we are just passing through".

Seven caravans and campervans, with their vehicles, are at the site opposite The Hive library.

A spokesman from the authority said a civil enforcement manager had been out to do a welfare check this morning, and the group was due to be issued with a notice to leave this afternoon.

A group moved onto the car park in April and stayed on the site for around six weeks. At one point the group moved from one side of the car park near Pitchcroft, to another part next to Croft Road.

After the group left, and a clean up operation was launched, a Worcester News resident who wanted to stay anonymous described the six weeks as horrendous with "so many issues".

Around a year ago travellers also set up camp on the same car park - after being moved on from Pitchcroft car park by the city council's legal department.
