THOUSANDS attended Warndon Villages Summer Fete, which was held in glorious sunshine on Sunday.

Lyppard Hub, in Ankerage Green, hosted the family friendly event which was organised through the support of Warndon Parish Council, Tesco Warndon and the Lyppard Grange pub.

The event included a performance from Samba group Glamba - who also held drumming workshops, pony rides, traditional fairground rides, bungee trampolines, face painting, a circus workshop and a soft play double decker bus.

Adventurers were able to test their nerve on a seven-metre climbing wall and their balance skills on a surfboard simulator.

Police, fire and ambulance vehicles were on show while there were various stalls at the event including from Cheerful Cherubs and the Army Cadet Force.

For the first time a dog show was held which proved popular, while the new Lyppard Grange Nursery - which opens its doors at Lyppard Hub in the autumn - held an open day during the event for parents to pop in, meet the staff and take a look around.

After the event finished the fun continued into the evening with Lyppard Grange pub’s garden party.

After the event organisers on the Lyppard Hub Facebook page thanked volunteers and everyone that helped ensure the event was a success.

Lyppard Hub deputy manager, Maxine Roberts, said: “We held the event for the community, for people to come together.

"We had around 2,000 attend last year, and there was more this year.

"The weather would have helped.

“We are still counting the money but anything raised goes back into the hub to support the community, for example to buy equipment.

“It will also give us a kickstart for our money towards starting a dementia group.

“Every year we say the event is getting bigger and better - it has really taken off.”
