A CAT with a cleft lip is one of many pets at a Worcestershire animal rescue centre in need of a new home.

The RSPCA cattery at The Holdings Rescue & Rehoming Centre is full and more cats are at the vets waiting to come in.

So the charity has appealed for people to rehome one of the branch's cats, in particular the longest stayer, Dolly.

Geraldine Haynes, trustee for RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch, said: "We're delighted to say we have rehomed 177 cats and kittens since opening the new cattery last October.

"Even so, there is such a demand for places for abused, neglected and unwanted cats in Worcestershire, that all 20 spaces and the isolation unit are full.

"One of the many cats looking for a loving home is Dolly, who came into care as her elderly owner was unable to look after her anymore.

"She was presumed to be spayed as an older girl, however this was not the case and she had three kittens in March.

"She raised them all beautifully and they were all rehomed months ago, but sadly Dolly is still with us, five months later!"

Dolly is described as a very sweet girl, who is more affectionate the more she gets to know you.

She is a very strong minded lady and likes to do her own thing, but loves to be social and watch over whatever you are doing.

She would love a retirement home with someone around for her to follow and a nice garden to sunbathe in.

Mrs Haynes said: "Due to Dolly being a mature lady and having a charismatic cleft lip, she is getting overlooked in the cattery and so far we have not had a single bit of interest in our sweet girl.

"All staff and volunteers at the centre love her easy-going but stubborn nature and her little tongue that sticks out when she's taking a nap.

"She would make the ideal girl for anyone wanting a chilled out companion!"

Dolly has now been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

If you feel you could offer her a loving retirement home, please call the centre on 0748 490 5707 or pop in to meet Dolly and the other cats any day except Wednesdays from 11am - 4pm at Holdings Lane, Broomhall, near Worcester WR5 3FP.
