THREE gardens in Offenham are open again in August under the National Garden Scheme.

Langdale is a plant lovers garden designed for all year round interest.

Surrounding a formal rill are relaxed borders in a variety of styles leading down to a productive vegetable garden and experimental naturalistic planting of mainly southern African plants.

Willoway, an oasis of sound and colour, is initially hidden by the traditional front garden.

A corridor of Hostas leads the visitor to the patio, a lush carpet of lawn, and then via the bamboo curtain, to the oriental area.

With a mature walnut tree, Dechmont features box topiary, patio areas, year round interest from conifers, shrubs and acers, colour from bulbs, perennials, annuals, clematis and roses set within curved borders.

All three gardens contain ornamental glasswork made by Wendy Stafford, an Offenham artist whose studio very close to the gardens will also be open over the weekend.

There are homemade teas, locally grown salad vegetables and interesting plants for sale.

The gardens are open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday August 5 and Sunday August 6.

Parking is at Offenham village hall car park and admission is £4 for adults.
