SUDDEN rain showers and grey skies did not dampen the enthusiasm of people attending this year’s Badsey Flower Show.

Taking place on Saturday, flower show highlights included the chance to soak MP Nigel Huddleston.

Committee member, Adrian Barradell said: “Despite a sudden heavy shower just as the show was opening and also later on in the afternoon, this year’s Badsey Flower Show was well attended.

“All the main acts including Pedal Power V Parkour , the St. Andrews Pipe Band and United Dance Academy were able to perform in the main arena and attendees also enjoyed visiting the stalls and all the other entertainments on the showground, plus of course the main marquee with the public entries and exhibits.

“In addition we were all treated to a Spitfire flypast courtesy of Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which was a replacement for the Dakota aeroplane originally planned for the show, but which on the day was unavailable.”

Visitors to the Soak -a-Bloke stand at the Badsey Flower Show organised by The 1st Badsey Beavers where Mr Huddlestone was pelted with wet sponges.

The 1st Badsey Beavers had organised the stand plus a tombola, raffle and fresh produce stall to raise money for the ongoing refurbishment of the scout hut.

Louise Cattanach, local fundraiser for the 1st Badsey Beavers said: “Although the great British weather had its own agenda on the day we had a memorable, fun packed afternoon raising money to upgrade the scout htut for the on-going use of the local community. Many thanks to all those who offered their valued support and assistance in making the day a success”
