5. Festival frenzy: picnics, plums and fireworks

It's gone festival crazy this weekend with the choice of three separate fun-filled places to go.

In Worcester, two weeks of the Worcester Festival comes to a spectactular end with the finale fireworks happening at South Quay on Bank Holiday Monday evening.

It's always a popular event although, as we reported, crowds are banned this year from watching from Worcester Bridge.

You can also enjoy a free party at the One World in Our Park at Fort Royal Park. The party starts at 2pm and there will be music, dance, games and refreshments. You can take a picnic along. The event will end around 10.15pm following the firework display to mark the end of the Worcester Festival, which can be seen from the hill.

Then, there's the Sunshine Music Festival, in Upton-upon-Severn on Friday, August 25, Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27. It's known as England's greatest family festival and boy band Blue are headlining. But, unless you already have tickets, you are destined to be disappointed as it's sold out.

Finally, there's the Plum Festival in Pershore which has been running all month but finishes with a grand finale this weekend, from Saturday, August 26 to Monday, August 28. There will be nearly 100 stalls and attractions selling plum-themed goodies and festival mementoes, and offering people the chance to taste scores of plum varieties. Over 1,000 classic cars will be on show in the grounds of Pershore Abbey, and there is a plum fun zone with a fair, bhangra and samba workshops, zorbing, storytelling, river boat trips, dragon boat racing, a World War Two display and an arts trail.
