IT'S a special day for an author from Droitwich who has released two books today.

Sheryl Browne's latest books, both thrillers in her critically acclaimed DI Matthew Adams series, will be available to readers from Tuesday, September 5.

Sins of the Father, which follows After She's Gone is out in paperback, while Deadly Intent, the third in the series, will be simultaneously released in ebook format.

Sins of the Father picks up Detective Inspector Matthew Adams' story as he is slowly picking up the pieces from a case that nearly cost him the lives of his entire family and his own sanity too.

The book's strapline asks: 'What if you are accused of one of the worst crimes imaginable?'

The books have shades of her home town featured.

Readers will notice that the author's love of the waterways around where she lives and canal boating - she once restored an old narrowboat - have managed to creep into this series.

Ms Browne said: "It's not the first time they've made an appearance in my books and certainly won't be the last but yes, a narrowboat features quite significantly in Deadly Intent."

Ms Browne, speaking from her home in Droitwich said: "Publishing days are wonderful - to have a day where two of your babies are out in the world makes it even more special.

"I'm so pleased to see this series doing so well.

"DI Adams has become very close to my heart and it's a pleasure to be able to keep his story going - even if I'm having to pull night shifts to keep up with demand."

Lyn Vernham, managing director of multi award winning publishers, Choc Lit, said: "Sheryl's fans are going to be delighted with both releases.

"They are high calibre reads and in typical Sheryl Browne fashion, superbly balance suspense and emotion.

"Tense and gripping thrillers, readers are in for a roller coaster of a ride.

"If I had to draw comparisons, I would suggest they are perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series and Martina Cole’s novels."
