A GUIDED historical and archaeological walk is taking place in Pershore at the end of March.

The 4.5 mile circular walk is being run by Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service as part of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Three Counties Traditional Orchards project.

It will start and finish at Pershore Abbey and is free and open to all ages.

It is being led by an archaeologist, exploring the history of Pershore and archaeological sites in the surrounding area.

Pershore has had a fascinating history since it was founded during the Anglo-Saxon era and archaeological investigations around the town over the last few decades have revealed evidence of earlier Roman and prehistoric settlement.

All historical periods will be covered during the walk, including the Civil War and World War Two.

Nina O'Hare, community archaeologist, said: "This is a great opportunity to get out and explore the history and archaeology in and around Pershore, from early prehistory through to World War Two."

The walk on March 24 from 1-4pm is not accessible for people using wheelchairs.
