A 5-YEAR-OLD who suffers from a metabolic condition which forces him to be tube fed collected and helped hand out more than 900 Easter eggs, gifts and treats to charities across the county.

Oscar Hughes from Droitwich, helped deliver 922 chocolate eggs, teddies, craft sets and dairy free chocolates for the sick children over Easter week.

Mum Rebecca Hughes said: “Oscar was originally doing for Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital but because we got so many donations we decided to take them to all the other charities.

“We really didn’t expect to get that many.

“The charities were really pleased. I rang ahead to say we would be dropping them off and they were still really happy when we arrived.

“They really made a fuss of Oscar and his brother and sister.

“I am really proud of him. He’s a good little boy.”

Oscar had the idea of collecting treats for poorly children when he saw Christmas presents being given out to sick children whilst he was in hospital himself.

He distributed the presents with his family and with the help of PGS Global Logistics who donated a new van and driver to help deliver the donations.

The Hughes family visited the Riverbank Ward and Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) at Worcestershire Royal Hospital as well as Birmingham’s Children Hospital and the children’s community nursing Orchard Service.

They also visited Malvern-based special needs support network What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful (WMYDMYB), WANDS Children’s Centre in Droitwich and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Oscar also made stops at Tibberton CE First School and Gloverspiece School in Droitwich and Worcester and Droitwich Food Bank.
