AN Evesham lady has been selected to represent the Great British Armed Forces playing hockey.

Karen Robinson from Bengeworth, will take on a fundraising project between Saturday May 26 and Saturday June 2 raising money for Help For Heroes.

There will be an eight day UK tour during this week where they will play 30 games and have military missions, starting in Glasgow and finishing in Canterbury.

The team play a number of competitions against the RAF, Navy and Olympic All Stars.

They will be training along with the Olympic hockey team in Bisham Abbey which is England Hockeys Base. The astro turf is the replica of the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The event involves eight military challenges and three or four hockey games against local clubs in each area.

This is such an exciting opportunity for me to be part of this amazing cause. I never thought I would get another opportunity to play at this standard due to my circumstances however anything is possible! Think positive and be strong.

All of the money goes towards a sports fund for injured and disabled heroes in the forces who wish to have a greater recovery and be able play their favourite sports.
