PERSHORE Town appear to be the region’s only club on the move following a reshuffle of English football’s 10th tier.

Littleton and Malvern Town had been braced for a switch to the Hellenic League but have stayed put while Pershore move west from Midland Football League (MFL) Division One to the West Midlands (Regional) League (WMRL).

New rules mean divisions at step six of the National League System must have no more than 20 clubs which prompted predictions the Hellenic League would need to increase numbers from 13 and 14 clubs in its two divisions at that level.

However, with regulations not setting out a minimum requirement the need to stretch the Hellenic League’s footprint into south Worcestershire has been prevented.

Pershore will be one of four new clubs in the WMRL.

In come Haughmond and Shawbury United, relegated from the MFL Premier Division with Wem Town promoted as WMRL Division One champions.

Out go promoted Wolverhampton Sporting Community and relegated Wellington Amateurs with Ellesmere Rangers and Stone Old Alleynians transferred laterally to North West Counties League Division One South.

Leicestershire-based NKF Burbage and Smithswood Firs have been promoted into MFL One with Rocester parachuted down from the Premier Division. Burton-on-Trent-based Stapenhill have been transferred from the East Midlands Counties League.

Ilkeston Town have been promoted alongside champions Walsall Wood with Bolehall Swifts and Coventry Alvis relegated.
