A CONCERT in support of St Richard's Hospice, was a success.

The Vale Connection Ladies Chorus, a barbershop choir based in Evesham performed a selection of songs at Pershore Abbey on Saturday, June 16. The concert was compered by Bernadette Kearney. A special guest, Joanne Jefferis played the cello.

There was a vast selection of raffle prizes, generously donated by family, friends and local firms, which raised over £300.

The well rehearsed choir opened with a lively rendition on Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, other songs included Somewhere Out There from the film An American Tail, and the final song, I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing, by The New Seekers saw the choir pass a string of world flags down the aisle of the abbey.

The overall total raised for St Richard's Hospice was £1140.

The chorus is holding an open evening at their usual rehearsal venue, St Mary and St Egwin Community Hall, High Street, Evesham, starting at 8pm on Thursday, July 19.

The primary aim is to recruit new members, but, whether you‘re interested in joining or not, it will be a fun, free, no obligation evening of song.
