FUNDRAISERS can join a new fundraising group which has launched to support Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The founding members of the Alzheimer’s Research UK Evesham and Pershore District Fundraising Group – the charity’s first group in Worcestershire have plans underway for events and activities.

They are looking for new members with a range of skills to join the team to raise vital funds and awareness for dementia research.

Members can get involved in fundraising challenges to raise money for research, represent Alzheimer’s Research UK at events and spread the word about the charity within their community.

The leader of the group is Pam Foley, who first got involved in fundraising for the charity last year and has so far raised around £2,000.

She said: “I have an interest in making craft items and I wanted to make things and sell them for charity. I saw a flyer promoting the importance of dementia research and that inspired me to support Alzheimer’s Research UK.

“I hosted a coffee morning and ran some craft stalls and then was encouraged to take up an opportunity to do a sky dive. At the age of 66 I did it. What an experience.

“It is a hugely worthwhile charity. There is a great need to support dementia research and help fight this devastating condition.”

Members of the new group have already organised their first events.

There will be a coffee and chat event at Fladbury Church on Saturday October 13 from 10.30am to 12pm.

There will be a variety of stalls with craft items and information about dementia.

They are also planning a stall at the Christmas craft fair at Fladbury Village Hall on Saturday November 17 as well as running stalls at various fetes in the area.

Anyone wishing to get involved in the group can contact 07469 852501 or email zoe.baggott@alzheimersresearchuk.org
