William Hale and Russell Thompson were second with 44 ahead of Brian Wright and Les Seaton on countback.

Club captain Bernard Donoghue hosted a successful event involving 100 with a number of holes changed for a different challenge. Nearest the pins on par threes were Sam McPherson, Richard Preen, Wright and Paul Evans.

A mixed greensomes in the afternoon was contested by 23 pairs and won by Jan and Jim Titley with 40 points on countback from Dave Abbot and Fran Andrews.

Ian and Vicky Watkins were third with 38 while the nearest the pins went to Stan Buchan, Charlie Nettell, Warren McDivitt and Les Carter.

The captain's chosen charity Sue Ryder received £2,200 through donations, raffle sales, silent auction bids and funds raised through the pro’s challenge.

The ladies played for the England Golf Medal and Winifred Stephen’s Trophy.

In the Silver Division, Annabelle Carter won with 74 nett ahead of Frances Friend on countback and Pat Beaman was third with 76.

The overall winner and Bronze Division victor was Jan Titley with 70 from Angela Sollis on 71 and Veronica Rudd on 73.

The trophy went to Carter with Friend runner-up.

The seniors' mixed open involved 65 pairs from 35 clubs in a greensomes competition.

Home players Tony and Doreen Reeve won with 43 points ahead of Henbury's Dereck and Mary Howell on countback.

Charles and Lesley Leggitt from Kenilworth were third with 42.

The best front nine was by home player Barbara Bate and Leominster's Clive Brimmell with 25 while Paul Burnett and Judy Parry from Naunton Downs took the back nine with 23.

Broadway’s past captains played for the Sutton Cup with 23 competitors.

Philip Cloke won with 41 points to earn the trophy for the second year running.

Second with 38 was McDivitt.
