Brandy Cask pub appeal

THE fate of the Brandy Cask pub, in Pershore, will be decided by planning officers after an appeal on its future was heard this week.

Owners the Cooper family had initially appealed after planning application to turn the pub into eight residential units was recommended for refusal by Pershore Town Council, a decision then carried by planning officers from Wychavon.

It was refused on the grounds that the Brandy Cask is a good business and that a change of use could cause a problem for Highways regarding access to the site.

The appeal hearing, on Tuesday, was chaired by government planning inspector Jeremy Sargent who heard from a representative for the landlord Spencer Cooper, officers from both county and district councils and members from CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ales.

A decision from the planning inspectorate is expected in six weeks time.
