PLANT lovers looking to get out and about this Bank Holiday weekend can drop in on an open weekend at a nursery in Beckford.

Phoenix Gardens Horticulture Ltd will open its nursery at Home Farm, Ashton Road, to the public for the long weekend on Saturday (23), Sunday and Monday. It will be open from 9am to 5pm on each of the three days.

Phoenix Gardens Horticulture Ltd is run by Steve and Judi Jacobs from an office at The Elms, Throckmorton. Steve has been busy preparing for the open weekend by creating a jungle garden complete with pond and fish, which will be just one of a number of attractions available to the public.

Among the plants and flowers on offer will be a selection of canna lillies.

Judi said: “The country is swamped with virused cannas but we are one of the leading nurseries in the country for virus free canna lillies and we have members of an international plant forum coming to see our nursery soon.

“Our reputation has meant that we have also been asked to be part of the Swindon Gardening Show which is a brand new event being held for the first time this year. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our open weekend.”

Open weekends at the nursery in Beckford are held regularly throughout the summer months and following this weekend there will be further events on September 20 and 21 and October 18 and 19.
