BUDDING local artists impressed the Mayor of Evesham with their colourful creations in an Arts Centre Cover Competition.
Evesham Arts Centre received more than 20 entries to the competition where children were asked to draw a picture which would be used on the cover of the next programme of events, to be published in December.
The winning entry was drawn by Zoe Ireland, aged ten, who lives in Evesham. The runners-up were Connor Wagstaff, aged seven and Emily Kane, 8.
Zoe’s picture of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was chosen by Evesham Mayor Alan Booth and as well as her picture appearing on the cover of the programme she was awarded some art materials and pantomime tickets.
Cllr Booth said: “It was a very difficult decision to choose between the entries as they were all of such a high standard. I was impressed by all of them but decided to choose the winning entry as it was cheerful and colourful and had the right theme as we head towards the pantomime season.
“It was a wonderful competition and I hope the Arts Centre runs it again next year.”
Evesham Arts Centre committee member Neal Cartwright said: “It is great to see young people getting involved with Evesham’s fabulous theatre. Especially when the standard of work is so high. It is a shame we could only choose one winner.”
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves will be performed at Evesham Arts Centre by the Phoenix Theatre Company from Wednesday, January 21 to Sunday, January 25.
