A FORMER Prince Henry’s High School pupil has returned from an ‘intense’ expedition where he pushed brain and body to the limit.

Matthew Taylor, aged 23, took part in a television show called Unbreakable, currently being shown on Monday evenings.

He was part of a group of fitness fanatics who travelled the world carrying out an assortment of challenges including catching and then killing a piranha fish in the way the local tribe does - by biting through its skull.

It did not take long to discover how difficult the expedition would be, as Matthew explained: “We had not been in the jungle for long when Carla collapsed after being bitten by large ants and then Nathan went down and started convulsing due to heat and exhaustion.

“That was when it hit home that this was serious stuff and we could be in trouble if things go wrong out here.”

He added: ”It was very intense but great fun. We saw some pretty amazing things that you cannot really get in everyday life.”

“One of the worst times was when we were in Norway when we took part in an endurance challenge where we had to trek on skis for 8km. You could not see anything due to the weather so you had no target to aim for, you just had to keep on pushing yourself to keep going.

“It was a challenge and there were many hard times but I am so glad that I did it as I have so many memories and experiences to remember for a long time.”

Unbreakable can be seen on Channel 5 on Monday at 9pm. For further details visit www.five.tv/unbreakable
