A FULL week of arts events are being organised in and around Evesham this summer, culminating in a staged production of Treasure Island in July.
The Evesham Festival Players, the same group that brought people The Canturbury Tales in Evesham County Park last year, are expanding the entire local theatre project to create a week of events running from Sunday, July 12 until Saturday, July 18.
The summer programme could include a Motown concert in the town square as well as a performance of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, another performance of the popular You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown at the Evesham Arts Centre, a variety evening at the town hall, a boat trip with a storyteller and magician and other events including poetry, street drumming, art and photography.
The main production of Treasure Island is being organised as we speak and the group are currently urging people who may want to get involved to do so quickly, ready for rehearsals in February.
Director, Eric Jones, said: “We still have a good core of players from last year but there’s always room for another land-lubber.”
The production of Treasure Island will feature all the favourite characters from Long John Silver to cabin boy Jim Hawkins, together with plenty of song and comedy along the way.
