A GROUP of council officers have saddled up to see for themselves the issues facing horse riders on bridleways.
The team from Shire Hall in Gloucestershire were taken around by experienced rider Sarah Ellis, a public rights of way officer, and local British Horse Society representative William Reddaway.
During the expedition, Sarah gave a talk on horse’s hooves and legs with regard to track surfaces and discussed how to improve other concerns like the user-friendliness of gates.
Mike Barton, a Gloucestershire County Council officer, who was present on the expedition, said: “It was interesting and extremely beneficial for us to go out and talk to riders and hear for ourselves what the issues are.”
