MORE than 200 animal lovers turned out to show their support for local charities at an open day in Middle Littleton.

People from across the Vale attended the animal charities day at the Farm Animal Sanctuary on Sunday which was held to raise awareness of the work of organisations in the area.

The Journal reported last week how many smaller animal charities, including the sanctuary, were suffering in the wake of the recession.

Sanctuary founder Janet Taylor said: “The day went very, very well. We had more people there then last year.

“A lot of people who came want to carry on giving us support and I think it worked for the other charities as well.”
