A FESTIVAL of Flowers will be held in Pershore Abbey next summer as the Mayor and Mayoress attempt to generate money and support for their chosen charities.
The major fundraising event, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, will take place over three days from June 24 to 26 2010 will feature floral displays by leading flower arrangers from all over the country and in the theme of ‘Let’s Celebrate’ to give everyone an opportunity to celebrate some of the many and varied activities and events taking place in the town.
A handful of local businesses have already signed up to the idea including Asda, where the festival was launched on Thursday (5).
Mark Wainwright, Asda store manager, said, “The Flower Festival will be a very beautiful event, as well as fundraising for fantastic causes.
“We are committed to supporting the local community and are delighted to welcome the mayor and mayoress in-store to announce the launch of the festival.
“We’ve also taken the opportunity to present them with a £500 donation in support of the event, and we very much look forward to celebrating it with the local community in late June next year.”
