BRASS Band lovers are in for a treat when a champion band visits Evesham at the end of the month.

The Tredegar Town Band, winner of the Wychavon Cup at the 2009 Wychavon Festival of Brass and the Welsh Champion band of 2008-9, will be in concert at All Saints Church on Saturday, January 30, at 7pm.

The Welsh band will be supported by The Worcestershire Youth Brass Band and Clive Allen, secretary of the Wychavon Festival of Brass, which is organising the event, said: “Ian Porterhouse, musical director of Tredegar Town Band, will be coaching the Worcestershire Youth Brass band prior to the concert as part of the commitment of the Wychavon Festival of Brass to improve the musical ability of young musicians in the county.”

Mr Allen said of the Youth Band:: “People will be thrilled by the enthusiasm and skill of these youngsters conducted by their impresario Nicky Daw.”
