AFTER snow forced the postponement of its opening 2010 concert, Evesham and District Music is ready to start the new year off in style.
With the adverse weather conditions out of the way, the group has secured the services of The Canteloube Wind Trio who will perform at Evesham Arts Centre on Friday, February 19.
The Canteloube Trio was formed in 2003 and two of the founder members - Jennie-Lee Keetley (oboe) and Peter Cigleris (clarinet) make up two thirds of the group. They will be joined for the performance in Evesham by new arrival Stuart Russell (bassoon).
The group was formed with the aim of exploring the repertoire for wind trio and is particularly interested in new music for the ensemble.
The three members of the trio are graduates of the Royal College of Music, who combine careers in chamber and orchestral, playing alongside work in music education and outreach.
The concert will include a wide range of arranged pieces including the Largo al Factotum from Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Mozart’s Divertimento no1 in Bb Major, one of Bach’s three part invention.
In addition they will play Jacob’s Trio and a piece by Graham Williams especially composed for the Trio and finally “Rustiques” by French composer Joseph Canteloube.
The concert starts at 7.30pm at Evesham Arts Centre on Victoria Avenue. Tickets will be on sale on the door priced from £13 and £3 for students. Tickets can also be bought from The Almonry by calling 01386 446944. For more information on the concert call 01386 861206.
• Evesham and District Music Club has confirmed that the Harp and Percussion concert originally due to take place in January, will now be held on April 22.
